‘This document forms an integral part of the Foundations for Learning Campaign, which … was launched in 2008 as a national response to support learners in the execution of tasks that demonstrate key skills. The campaign aims to provide directives to teachers and schools with minimum expectations at each level of performance to improve learning outcomes in Grades 1-6. The Foundation Phase document did not include Grade R. This document aims to address the gap. As with the Foundations for Learning Assessment Framework for Grades 1-6, this document is intended to help you with your planning and in determining what your learners should be working towards and demonstrating at any given point in the year.’ [p. 3]
