Abstract
Six case studies were undertaken to illustrate the issues faced by on-the-ground service providers in delivering different kinds of early childhood development (ECD) services for 0-4 year-olds. The case studies sought to illustrate the way each service met children’s holistic needs. They also examined the factors that either contribute to or hinder effective service provision in order to indicate what is working well and what the gaps are in relation to the interface with government, training and accreditation, the job hierarchy, child and caregiver outcomes.
